Response to Instruction and Intervention

Belvedere Elementary is working to better use student centered data to match instruction, services, and support to students’ needs, across all domains: academic, attendance, and behavioral/social-emotional.

Response to Instruction and Intervention (RTI2) is a process that provides educational support to all students at increasing levels of educational support. The goal is to prevent problems and intervene early so all students are successful.

The role of the Elementary Intervention Prevention Coordinator, is to build teacher capacity and provide support to students, teachers and administrators. I work collaboratively with general and special education teachers, administrators, program coordinators, and other staff to promote a foundation of standards-based literacy and numeracy across the content areas aligned to Common Core State Standards, using a multi-tiered approach to instruction, including the problem-solving model and appropriate evidence-based strategies to provide access to core instruction and intervention for all students including English learners, standard English learners, socioeconomically disadvantaged students, students with disabilities, and GATE students. As a support staff I help support the behavioral/social‐emotional and academic achievement of all student.

Learning Center

Belvedere Elementary offers many resources to help our students succeed in meeting grade level standards. Our Learning Center is run by Mr. Delgado (Intervention Teacher) and works with students having difficulty meeting reading foundational skills. Many of the new ELA standards identify a set of skills students must master before they can become fluent readers. These skills include the alphabet, the concept of print, phonological awareness, phonics, high-frequency words, and fluency. Students not meeting these skills are provided with additional Tier II target supports by the Intervention Teacher and team of Paraprofessionals. Students are also progress monitored every week to ensure that they are making adequate progress. Our Learning Center is located in Room 122.
